Missouri will collaborate with Google to provide no-cost access to Google AI tools, training, and professional certificates for educators, students, and local residents.
The partnership involves the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (DHEWD).
Nearly 100,000 educators and more than 1.1 million students across K-12 and higher education will gain access to these resources as part of the initiative.
WHAT THE PROGRAM INCLUDES
The collaboration will give classroom teachers and administrators access to enterprise-grade AI tools and training designed to support instruction and learning. - Gemini for Education and Gemini Notebook to help educators generate differentiated lesson materials, summarize coursework, and provide students with step-by-step instructional support.
- Google AI Educator Series, a free curriculum and credentials to help teachers build AI literacy.
- Google AI Professional Certificate and Google Career Certificates, industry-recognized credentials that can be integrated into high school and college coursework to build skills in AI, cybersecurity, data analytics, and IT support.
ACCESS, PRIVACY, AND LOCAL CONTROL
Adoption of Google’s AI tools and training programs is voluntary. Individual schools and postsecondary institutions will determine how and when to use these resources.
Google emphasizes privacy and security, stating conversations and data within Gemini for Education are private, protected by enterprise-grade security, and not used to train Google's AI models. Institutions maintain administrative control over their data to ensure a safe digital environment.
WORKFORCE PATHWAYS AND BROADER ACCESS
Beyond classroom use, the initiative opens access to Google Career Certificates and Google AI courses at no cost to all state residents through local Missouri Job Centers, linking classroom innovation with statewide workforce development.
