In May, Google launched The Small Brief project, inviting three veteran creatives to build studio-quality campaigns for local businesses using Google Flow, an AI-powered creative studio.
The setup included collaboration with the agency Johannes Leonardo and a goal to showcase how AI can amplify storytelling for small businesses.
CAMPAIGNS CRAFTED BY THREE INDUSTRY VETERANS
The project named three participants: Susan Credle, Tiffany Rolfe, and Jayanta Jenkins. They were provided unlimited access to Google Flow to develop campaigns for local businesses they care about. TechStaged has also covered The Rebuilt Copilot Studio Puts Multi-Step Agents in Focus.
Their work sought to blend artistic instincts with AI tools to produce compelling narratives that resonate with communities.
- Susan Credle developed a campaign for Stonewood Farm in the Hudson River Valley, centered on a wordplay theme around regenerative agriculture.
- Tiffany Rolfe produced a historical narrative for South Ferry, a Long Island ferry service, tracing a 200-year journey and the Clark family’s community commitments.
- Jayanta Jenkins crafted an emotional story for ARCHANGELS, a public benefit corporation supporting caregivers, using a mirror motif to reflect the lives of those they serve.
WHAT THE PROJECT AIMED TO SHOW
The Small Brief was conceived to highlight the storytelling power of AI and inspire other creatives and small businesses to explore AI-enabled campaigns.
The effort emphasized that blending human storytelling with AI tools can produce ambitious, community-focused campaigns.
BEHIND-THE-SCENES AND WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
A behind-the-scenes docuseries accompanies the project, detailing the creatives’ journeys, challenges, and the practical use of Google Flow in producing these campaigns.
The messaging suggests the exploration of AI-assisted storytelling as a pathway for local business advocacy and narrative-building.
WHY IT MATTERS FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES AND THE AI STORYTELLING LANDSCAPE
By uniting high-level creative instincts with AI-powered tools, The Small Brief demonstrates how AI can support storytelling for local businesses.
The project aims to spark interest among other creatives and small-business owners to experiment with AI-driven campaigns and storytelling approaches.
