Cloudflare’s post introduces three open-source tools—Void Platform, Void SDK, and Void CLI—bundled as a single JavaScript package and Vite plugin that you can install via npm install void. The trio aims to unify server routing, typed data access, and Cloudflare deployment within a Vite workflow.
HOW THE THREE PIECES FIT TOGETHER
Void turns a Vite app into a full-stack Cloudflare Workers app. The Void SDK provides adapters for popular UI frameworks, offers file-based API routing and end-to-end type safety from the database to the UI, and handles resource provisioning and authentication. The Void CLI provisions resources and deploys apps to the Platform, and can be used to manage its lifecycle.
DEPLOYMENT FLOW AND PROVISIONING
The CLI deploys apps built with the SDK to the Platform. On first use, the CLI prompts you to log into your Cloudflare account, builds the app with Vite, applies migrations, and automatically provisions resources before deployment.
OPEN-SOURCE POSTURE AND HOSTING OPTIONS
The three products are open-sourced as a single package and Vite plugin. A Void Platform can be self-hosted within a Cloudflare account on Workers for Platforms and R2, with admin controls for access, deployments, and usage inspection.
USE CASES AND GOVERNANCE
The platform is pitched as enabling faster prototyping and allowing non-technical teams to contribute prototypes and internal dashboards, all while maintaining guardrails through admin dashboards and resource controls.
