Summary

  • AI Governance Dashboard shows which agents ran, who used them, and which projects they touched.
  • Every agent action gets recorded in one audit trail to support investigations and auditors.
  • Dashboard can download an immutable copy of a session or stream events to a SIEM.
  • Dashboard is in beta for GitLab Premium and Ultimate.

GitLab describes a beta-enabled AI Governance Dashboard that consolidates AI agent activity across Duo Agent Platform and externally connected agents used by developers. This creates a single place to see which agents ran, who used them, and which projects were touched.

Note: See AI agent activity in one place with the GitLab AI Governance Dashboard, across Duo Agent Platform and the externally connected agents your developers use.

WHAT IT RECORDS AND WHY IT MATTERS

The dashboard is designed to provide an audit trail of agent actions, detailing the model used, the tools called, and the projects affected. Open any GitLab Duo Agent Platform session to see the prompt, tools the agent called, MCP servers used, and the model that ran.

Note: With that audit trail in place, you can answer the questions auditors and risk owners ask: who ran this agent, what did it do, and who is accountable for it.

  • Shows agent activity across internal and external agents
  • Links each action to the developer behind it
  • Supports investigation and auditor reporting by centralizing records

SETUP AND ACCESS REQUIREMENTS

Getting started involves ensuring the right access and enabling AI audit event storage. In a top-level group, you need the Owner role or a custom role with read_agent_artifacts, then turn on AI audit event storage. The dashboard is accessed under AI > Governance. Externally connected agents can be captured via the GitLab CLI (glab) with setup commands appropriate for Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex integrations.

To turn it on and connect external agents, follow the steps described in the GitLab post: turn on storage in Settings > GitLab Duo, open AI > Governance, and use glab commands to hook Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex workflows.

  • Check access: Owner or custom role with read_agent_artifacts
  • Turn on AI audit event storage in Settings > GitLab Duo
  • Open the dashboard at AI > Governance
  • Connect externally connected agents with glab commands
